The researchers of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Observatory determined the date of collision of the Earth with two 1km-diameter asteroids.
The danger is forecasted to happen in 2035, APA reports. The scientists discovered the asteroid to revolve around the Sun at the moment. They think the collision of the asteroid with the Earth will cause serious disasters. The American scientists affirmed the hypothesis of their Russian colleagues, but according to them the collision of asteroid with the Earth will happen a little bit earlier, in 2028. The press secretary of the observatory Sergey Smirnov announced that asteroid will come nearer to the planet and its orbit will undergo changes. "If the orbit of the asteroid changes seriously, the collision of this object with our planet is real. The collision will cause serious disasters on the Earth. 100m-diameter asteroids are very dangerous for the Earth. Such objects equal to Tungus meteorite will be able to cause regional disasters. The diameter of the approaching asteroid is more than 1km. The collision will be able to cause serious climate changes. If the asteroid falls into t he ocean the danger will be global," the scientist said.
