The interference of outside TV channels in Azerbaijan's airspace has decreased by 85-90%.
Communications and Information Technologies Ministry's Teleradio Unit Technical Director Mikayil Abbasov told that special equipment was stationed on Gulustan Tower to prevent outside transmission. No outside TV channels broadcast in the central regions after this equipment came on line. "This equipment also impedes transmission of our own TV channels that's why we strengthen the transmission of these channels through Terter, Aghsu and other Transmitters". Abbasov added Azerbaijani TV channels enter the airspace of Georgia. But it is natural. According to the rules of International Telecommunication Union, a country's TV channel can broadcast some 300km of the neighboring country. In these cases, the countries should agree on distribution of TV channels. This issue has been agreed on with the neighboring countries when the ministry’s representative visited Geneva, APA reports.
