In nearest future hot line will be opened for victims of human trafficking In Baku, at present talks continue with the government related to this matter.

With the support of the United States Embassy and OSCE, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) conducted training for the future staff of a hotline and shelter for trafficked victims.

The training was conducted between June 27 and July 6, APA reports

In the press conference held today the USA embassy Public Affairs Officer, Jonathan Henick stated that, human trafficking in the world as well as in Azerbaijan is very topical question. "The US Embassy considers it as slavery of the time, about 800 people become victims of this slavery every year."

Quoting Interior Ministry information, the diplomat said that last year 231 people were the victims of human trafficking in Azerbaijan, but this figure does not reflect the reality. According to him, the reason of it is their not willing to give information. Jonathan Henick has stated that the USA government has allocated $350K for the experts' being familiarized with the situation in this field and making changes to the existed legislation in Azerbaijan.

Conducting trainings Woman Information and Coordinating Center representatives said that Yelena Morgin and Natalya Archangelskaya tackling with human trafficking victims in Dnepropetrovsk city of Ukraine, informed that 17 people had participated in the trainings representing social organizations and told them of their experience. According to them about 150-200 people call to hotline in Ukraine in a month.
