The World Chess Championship started in Belfor, France on 19 July ended the day before yesterday.

Our 12 compatriots  also competed in the competition  which  involved wunderkinds from  more than 70 countries  in 5 groups among  10,12,14 ,16 and18 year old boys and girls. Our compatriot Ulvi Bajarani achieved the highest result in comparison with our other chess players in the struggle of 10 year old competitors.

U.Bajarani scored 8.5 points in the 12 games. Our chess player who was half point behind Indian Sahaj Grover and Russian Ivan Bukavshin won bronze medal of the world championship.

Our other representatives Nijat Abbasov, Senan Rahimli, Ulviyya Fataliyeva (ten year olds), Bahruz Rzayev, Farida Mammedbeyova  (12 years old), Ayaz Mammedov,  Khayale Valiyeva (14 years old), Nijat Agayev, Nargiz Umidova (16 years old) could not get into the first “ten” in the struggle with the counterparts.

The winners of the international chess tournament which has just ended in Dubai Eltaj Safarli and Khayale Iskenderova could not be among the winners of the world championship either.
