Azerbaijani schoolchildren have claimed a clutch of five bronze medals at the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) in Bali, Indonesia.

The Olympiad brought together students from 48 countries, Azertac reported.

IJSO is an annual individual and team competition in the Natural Sciences for students, who are under sixteen years old. IJSO was founded in recognition of the significance of the natural sciences in the general education of young people and in all aspects of their lives.

Top students from each country are selected to the competition and each get a chance to compete with their counterparts from across the globe.

The aim of IJSO is to encourage further development of scientific knowledge within precocious and talented students, while allowing them to both cooperate and socialize with each other.

Through this, the competition hopes to foster passion, knowledge and communication within potential future scientists.
