An underwater earthquake hit the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea, according to a message posted Jan. 29 on the website of the Republican Seismological Service Center of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

The earthquake was recorded at 15:15 (UTC/GMT +4 hours) on Jan. 29 in the Caspian Sea, some 18 kilometers south-east of the city of Astara.

The earthquake’s magnitude was 3.3, and its epicentre was at a depth of 44 kilometers.
