 Flavors of the Silk Road: International Conference on Food, Culture and Tourism has finished at Baku’s Jumeirah Bilgah Beach Resort.

The two-day conference was organized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in cooperation with Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Azerbaijan Tourism Association.

Representatives of tourism companies from Korea, Russia, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Thailand, France, Germany and China participated in the event.

The conference was dedicated to highlighting the huge potential of the Silk Road region for food and intangible culture tourism to serve as an important tool of public-private cooperation and effective marketing.

The first day of the conference featured seminars on theme “Food and Tourism: Global inclinations and chances”, “The establishment of the Silk Road as leading network of culinary venues” and “Food for development”.

The second day of the event saw participants discuss a range of topics, including “The Silk Road in the global tour media” and “Digital period: Social media and tour”.

The conference featured presentation of national cuisine of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Spain and Italy, master classes by chefs, and Azerbaijani and Georgian wines tasting. The goal of the Silk Road Program, involving 28 countries, was to develop tourism along the Silk Road.

Azerbaijan is a member of the Silk Road Program of UNWTO.
