12 October 2011 [15:00] - Today.Az
"The U.S. is trying to divert attention from internal and regional problems by silly statements," Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani was quoted as saying by Mehr news agency on Wednesday.
The speaker also said that relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia are good. Tehran has no reason to play silly games.
"By making these statements, the U.S. is trying to invent disagreements between Muslim countries and to divert attention from the Islamic awakening in the region," he said. "But the U.S will fail to do this."
According to U.S. authorities, two Iranian citizens were preparing an attack on a Saudi Arabian ambassador in Washington, and perhaps planned to blow up the embassy of the country in the U.S.
Reuters reported that an investigation of the case has already been completed. An indictment against the suspects was submitted to the trial, and the matter now rests with Mansur Arbabsiar and Ghulam Shakur. They wanted to achieve their goal with the help of representatives of Mexican drug cartels operating in the U.S. The operation lasted about six months - from May 2011-- to detect terrorists and collect evidence against them.
Iran's state-run media has reacted to this information and stated that the allegations were the U.S. imperialists' malicious lie to blacken the Tehran leadership in the eyes of the world community.
