One person was killed on Thursday in an explosion of a mine laid by Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist group in Semdinli district in Turkey's south-eastern province of Hakkari, CNN Turk reported.

The explosion occurred around 11 a.m. local time. Other details of the incident were not disclosed.

More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict between the state and PKK, which took up arms in 1984. The PKK is listed as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
