The administrative border of South Ossetia and Georgia was closed on the night of Aug. 26, based on a decision by the State Security Committee of the Separatist Republic .

"The Mosabruni , Artsevi, and Sinagur border checkpoints along South Ossetia’s administrative border with Georgia were closed for 24 hours in connection with celebrations, to ensure safety during the third anniversary of Russia 's recognition of South Ossetia’s independence, as well as to avoid aggravating the border situation", the Committee reported.

The Committee noted that corresponding instructions were also transferred to the Russian FSB Border Protection in the breakaway republic of South Ossetia.
