The security situation in Iran-Turkey borders will improve in the near future, police chief Esmaeil Ahmadi Moghaddam said on Thursday, MNA reported.
Whatever action Iran takes along its borders to improve security, Turkey will follow suit, Ahmadi Moghaddam told Mehr News Agency.
It is essential that neighboring countries cooperate in order to have a stable security situation along the joint borders, he stated.
He went on to say that terrorist groups with the support of U.S. and Israel carry out vicious acts along the northwestern borders.
However, Iran has taken serious measures in cooperation with Turkey to clamp down on these terrorist groups, he added.
Since the Islamic Revolution in 1979 Iran has been through numerous terrorist operations especially in the northwestern borders, he explained.
Pointing to insecurity in Iran’s borders with Iraq, he said there have been many problems in this region as Iraq, especially the Kurdistan region, has failed to maintain control over these areas.
Ahmadi Moghaddam said Iran’s Foreign Ministry should hold talks with Iraqi officials to persuade them to resolve the issue and ask them to take more serious measures in fight against the notorious terrorist groups.
On eastern borders, he said Iranian border guards have tightened control over the eastern borders and that the situation has improved significantly over the recent years.
