World powers are hindering settlement of the country's nuclear case, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said, ISNA reported.

"Iran's nuclear program seeks access to peaceful nuclear energy, but some powers are hindering resolution of the country's nuclear issue," he said in a meeting with Singaporean President SR Nathan.

The Singaporean President on his part said, "Iran's position in the Middle East is considerably important."

"Major world powers are trying to secure their own interests and are making use of their influence in international bodies against Iran," the Singaporean President added.

"This is the right of the Islamic Republic of Iran to use peaceful nuclear energy," he noted.

"Singapore stands by Iran in the IAEA and other international bodies and it calls for maturing political, economic and cultural ties with Iran."

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani left for Singapore on Monday.
