Georgia and Russia agreed to continue consultations on Russia’s joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), Spokesman for Georgian Prime Minister Niko Mchedlishvili said.

The parties have agreed on another round of talks following the talks in Geneva on April 28-29. Mchedlishvili did not disclose other details of the negotiations.

He said the next round of talks will be held in Switzerland in late May.

Georgia has placed several conditions on Russia’s WTO membership agreement. Tbilisi insists on the presence of the Georgian customs officers at the customs checkpoints between Russia and Abkhazia, Russia and South Ossetia.
