A radioactive substance found in the Batumi Port has been seized and isolated, the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry reported.
The radiation was removed from scrap metal freight in a railway carriage. It has already been tested by manual dosimeters.
According to preliminary data, it is cesium-137, which was often used in military and measuring devices in Soviet times. The power of the radiation is being determined, the ministry said.
"If it is strong, we will examine the people who had contact with it to determine the radiation they received," the ministry said.
