An earthquake measuring 3.9 on Richter scale jolted surrounding areas of Chaboksar in east part of northern province of Gilan on Tuesday afternoon, IRNA reported.
According to the report of seismography center affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 17:42 hours local time (14:12 hours GMT) and its epicenter was at 36.82 degrees latitude and 50.45 degrees longitude.
There is no immediate report on possible casualties or damage.
