United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Helen Clark met with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.

Davutoğlu said that they exert efforts for Istanbul to be a UN regional center.

Stating that they set up a "regional research center" in Istanbul, Davutoğlu said: "We are thinking of setting up a center on research on women in Istanbul. We want Istanbul to be a center within the UN through peaceful and mediation efforts. We want Istanbul to be a center for many social, and cultural activities carried out by the UN. Our target is a powerful UN center in Istanbul."

Helen Clark has welcomed this proposal.

"Turkey-UN Strategic Cooperation" and " Istanbul International Perfection Center" agreements were signed following talks.
