Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz arrived Thursday in Kazan, the capital city of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia where he will attend the meeting of Turkey-Russia Joint Economic Committee (JEC).

Taner Yildiz will co-chair the meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin. Turkish and Russian officials will discuss global developments on oil and natural gas supply, as well as natural gas prices as Russia provides most of Turkey's natural gas.

Last week, Yildiz said that the meeting would also be a preparatory gathering ahead of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Moscow planned for mid-March.

Officials said recent deal between Turkey and Russia to lift visa restrictions, Turkey's first nuclear power plant to be built by Russia, and customs issues would also be discussed at the JEC meeting.
