Turkish public is concerned about the existence of a visa regime with Azerbaijan, Turkey's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic told journalists today.

"I receive many letters from Turkish citizens who ask us to explain why two brotherly countries still have a visa regime," he said.

"I even offered to make visits possible by showing one's identity card, as in the case with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus."

Earlier, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said work is underway to annul the visa regime. He noted "bureaucratic problems," which must be take care of before the visa regime can be eliminated. He did not rule out that this may happen this year.
