10 November 2010 [11:25] - Today.Az
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said the nuclear talks between P5+1 (five permanent members of the UN Security Council --US, UK, Russia, China, France-- plus Germany) and Iran should begin at once.
Appearing Tuesday at a joint press conference with his Italian Counterpart Franco Frattini at Villa Madama, said Turkey was ready to host such a meeting, but the timing of the meeting was more important than the venue.
"What is rather more important than the venue of the meeting is the immediate start of negotiations with Iran," Davutoglu was quoted as saying.
Davutoglu said Turkey's approach to the issue was pretty clear. "We stand at an equal distance to all the parties. All nuclear programmes should be under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Everybody should receive equal treatment. We should do our best for a diplomatic solution. We don't want a nuclear problem in our region. We don't want new tensions," said Davutoglu.
Davutoglu said there was a new window opportunity to bring together the P5+1 and Iran and one that should not be missed.
