28 August 2010 [12:15] - Today.Az
Turkey is planning to use unmanned aircrafts for security of oil and gas pipelines.
Officials of the energy and interior ministries of Turkey discussed in Ankara the issue of unmanned aircraft patrols for pipelines’ security, according to Turkish Zaman newspaper.
They decided to create a special system for security of pipelines and scheduled to discuss the issue with TUBITAK and TURKSAT officials as well.
The oil and gas pipelines are guarded by the gendarme forces in accordance with the agreement reached between BOTAS and Gendarme Forces of Turkey, Zaman said, but recent terrorist attacks against the pipelines forced the sides to gather to review the security issue again.
The energy and law-enforcement officials decided to use real-time control system implemented in the security of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export route for other pipelines as well.
