The Georgian parliamentary delegation has today failed to fly to Poland to attend the funeral of Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his wife. The flight to Poland was impossible due to an enormous ash cloud from a remote Icelandic volcano that drifted over Europe. The ash led to the cancellation of several thousand flights, Parliamentary Speaker   David Bakradze told journalists.

The six-people parliamentary delegation stays in the airport, but can not fly to Poland due to the cancellation of flights and charter flights. "We sincerely regret that we will not be able to give the last honors to Kaczynski, who was the great friend of Georgia and supported us in the difficult times. But we hope to understanding, as our absence caused by objective reasons," he said.

Bakradze expressed his hope that tomorrow Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will be able to arrive in Poland, as planned.

Saakashvili will interrupt his U.S. visit to leave for Krakow to give the last honors to Kaczynski.
