Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai. The sides discussed the relationship between the two countries and important regional issues, the official news website of the presidential administration of Iran reported.
Throughout the history, the fates of Iran and Afghanistan and their peoples were closely linked. Iran and Afghanistan have common interests and enemies, Ahmadinejad said.
The Afghan side expressed the need for enhanced cooperation between the two countries and the importance of accelerating investments and cooperation in the field of communications, energy, education and culture. "There are no restrictions between Iran and Afghanistan to expand cooperation," Ahmadinejad said.
Foreign countries do not want Afghanistan to be free and developed country. "The people of Afghanistan for many years met with great difficulties. Foreigners do not want the Afghan people to develop and live in security," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said.
At the meeting, Karzai, in his turn, said that Afghanistan is ready to expand cooperation with Iran in all fields.
