Iranian officials are to launch a series of online courses to promote marriage and sponsor premarital trainings according to the Iranian culture and Islamic standards.

The county's hiking rate of divorce and falling rate of marriage made state officials consider methodical programs to restore the culture of effective marriages.

An advisor to the head of the national youth organisation for Tehran province and Press TV contributor, Mohammad-Mahdi Rezazadeh, believes the courses can be useful for Iran's young generation.

"The program was launched after 1.5 years of studies on the marriage trend of the young generation of Iran. We have screened reasons stated during divorce proceedings in trials," Rezazadeh said.

"Premarital education, engagement and courtship education, marriage and relationships, and raising children are the main subjects to be trained during four semesters of the course," he said.

The courses are developed for both girls and boys. The minimum age requirement for girls is defined 14 and for boys 18.

"The country's documented marriages show we have 15-year-old wives. Such figures convinced us to run program for girls from age 14," he said.

"Lessons will be featured in video, audio, and text versions on the program's website. The organization offers online courses in 4 semesters. Each semester takes 16 weeks," he said.

"Due to internet connection inconvenience applicants may face, the organization is planning to expand the e-learning program to mobile learning too," he further explained.

Rezazadeh who is also head of the system of virtual training for young marriage (SAJ) believes cultures vary from country to country and Iran has a distinct culture in marriage, clothing, festivals, religion etc.

"Informed marriage decision making is what the program aims to reach. It does not seek to redefine marriage," he said.

"The certificates presented to graduates do not aim to raise society's desire to get degrees. The degrees are not like any bachelor of engineering or science. It is a social certificate," Rezazadeh concluded.
