Turkish State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc met with the Deputy Secretary General of the Baas Party Mohammed Said Boukheitan in Damascus on Monday.

Speaking to reporters at the Baas Party Headquarters in Damascus, Minister Arinc underlined that the Turkish delegation's talks were very fruitful and that they held extremely crucial talks.

I must note that our talks with his excellency al-Asad pleased us the most. We had talks with the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of Syria, Abdallah al-Dardari. We are presently in the process of a political touch, Minister Arinc stressed.

Boukheitan, in his part, said that Turkey and Syria had strong historical bonds. We wish that our relations got stronger. Within this framework, the mutual visits of high level dignitaries carry high importance, Boukheitan underlined.

There are dozens of memorandums of understanding and strategic cooperation agreements between Turkey and Syria. As the political party in charge of the government in Syria, we pay high importance to our relations with Turkey, Boukheitan also said.
