The employees of Ajara Regional Main Division of the Ministry of Interior, as a result of operative activities detained Georgian citizens Roland Beridze (DoB 1970) Roman Kakabadze (DoB 1971) Murad Beridze (DoB 1971) and Pridon Veliadze (DoB 1962) – who are charged with assisting illegal migrant to cross Georgian state border.
Eventually, the mentioned activity has caused the death of the migrant.
On Feb. 8, the above mentioned detainees assisted the group of migrants in illegal crossing of the state border and received 640 USD and 180 GEL for the performed work.
The group consisting of six Nigerian illegal migrants aiming to avoid Georgian border control has premeditated to cross Georgian-Turkish state border illegally and selected the bypass road leading to the direction of Ghoma Mountain.
Due to the severe climatic conditions and snowfall the group was forced to return to the village of Tsablana and on the way back to the village two members of the group died in nearby territories of Ghoma Mountain, district Shuakhevi.
Four Nigerian citizens were detained under the article 344 part II subparagraph ‘A’.
Investigation was also launched for the crime committed by Georgian citizens under the article 19-344 envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Investigation is conducted by the employees of Ajara Regional Main Division of the Ministry of Interior.
