Georgian president hosted chairperson of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe Gianni Buquicchio at his president's residence on Feb. 4.

Mikheil Saakashvili discussed the constitutional amendments conducted by the government and the political situation in the country.

President announced at the meeting that he hoped for more recommendations from the Venice Commission.

Saakashvili reported the reforms, which the government carried out in the country during the past five years.

"First of all, we can boast with fighting against corruption, liberalization of freedom and much wider, transparent and democratic reforms," Saakashvili said.

In his turn, Buquicchio expressed his readiness to assist the country in the process of creating new constitution.

"As for the 2005 constitution of Georgia, you said that it should be revised and we think that it's high time to revise the document," Buquicchio noted.
