02 February 2010 [12:09] - Today.Az
Anders Fogh Rasmussen, NATO Secretary General, campaigns for normalization of relations between Russia and Georgia.

He believes that improved relations between Russia and NATO will ease positive development in relations between Georgia and Russia and Georgia and NATO.

The statement was made today in Brussels.

Relations between Russia and NATO deteriorated after August war of 2008, when Russia drew its forces in South Ossetia.

The Alliance member countries accused Russia of disproportional use of force and declared suspension of Russia-NATO council sittings. In response Russia froze some joint programs.

On March 5th NATO member countries' foreign ministers decided to restore full-format cooperation of the Alliance with Russia.
