Today, the Iranian court has launched a trial process on 16 demonstrators, including 2 women, arrested in rallies onAshura Day in Tehran, the Irna news agency reported with reference to the Tehran Prosecutor Office.

So far, the criminal cases on 37 demonstrators have been sent to the court for consideration. Some 32 of them are accused of counter-propaganda of Iran's regime, participation in illegal rallies, insulting the governmental officials on Internet, purchase of explosive devices and participation in paramilitary groups, causing damage to the country's revolutionary regime. Five arrested are accused of 'muharib', enemies of God whose annihilation by true believers is religiously sanctioned.  

Those who oppose Allah, the Prophet and the Islamic government, are called 'muharib' (who declared war). Articles 183-196 of the Iranian Constitution specify exile or a penalty for "muharib" or a person who wants to "overthrow the Islamic government".

Earlier, the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced to death 11 people, who participated in the riots on Ashura Day. Two of the condemned, Mohammed Reza Ali Zamani and Arash Rahmanipur were executed on Thursday.

Opposition supporters and police clashed on Ashura Day Dec. 27 in Tehran.

According to international news agencies, the riots resulted in the deaths of 15 people. Police arrested 550 people. According to the official information, the clashes killed eight people, including one woman, and 300 people arrested. The relevant agencies publicized their names.
