Turkey's statistics body, TUIK, made public on Monday the census results for 2009.

Turkey's population rose to 72,561,312 in 2009 marking a 1.45 percent change from 2008.

Turkey's statistics body, TUIK, made public on Monday the census results for 2009.

According to the census results the increase in Turkey's population has been 1,044,212 with population of 67 provinces rising and 14 provinces declining.

Rate of population rise was greatest in provinces of Cankiri, Bilecik and Isparta and lowest in provinces of Tunceli, Ardahan and Kars.
