Cubukcu met with her Azerbaijani counterpart Misir Mardanov within the scope of her two-day visit to Azerbaijan.

Turkish National Education Minister Nimet Cubukcu met with her Azerbaijani counterpart Misir Mardanov on Thursday within the scope of her two-day visit to Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the meeting that took place in Azerbaijan's Education Ministry, Cubukcu said they were trying to solve the current problems regarding equivalence of the universities in Turkey and Azerbaijan and recognition of the diplomas.

Azerbaijani Education Minister Mardanov said education particularly in international law was not adequate in Azerbaijan, and noted the problems stemmed from the unequality in level of education.

Mardanov said Turkish Higher Board of Education and Azerbaijan's Education Ministry signed an agreement for the solution of the problems.

A total of 4073 Turkish citizens are getting education in Azerbaijani universities. 139 of them are scholarship students.

Turkey every year allocates 125-people quota for Azerbaijani citizens who will get education through state scholarship.

Number of Azerbaijani students getting education in Turkey is 517.
