The Georgian police detained on January 4 “a member of [South] Ossetian illegal gang” armed with a firearm and hand-grenades, the Georgian Interior Ministry said.
34-year-old Genadi Pliev was detained in Nikozi, a village located in the vicinity of breakaway South Ossetia’s administrative border, according to the ministry.
According to the South Ossetian sources Pliev was “kidnapped” by the Georgian law enforcement officers from the outskirts of Tskhinvali, close to the administrative border, when he was “working out” early on Monday morning.
