Kazakh Information and Communications Minister Dauren Abayev at a government meeting on December 4 made a forecast of profitability of investments in the country’s digitization.

“The digitization program’s implementation envisages attracting more than 169 billion tenges from the subjects of the quasi-public sector (state facilities, LLPs, joint-stock companies, fully or partially state-owned national management holdings) and attracting financing in the amount of 141 billion tenges from the national budget (a total of over 310 billion tenges),” the minister said.

“The program has significant potential in terms of creating added value and reducing production costs, which will make it possible to achieve the country’s GDP growth rates at the level of 4.5-5 percent per year, starting from 2025.”

At the same time, about a third of this growth will be ensured solely through the implementation of the digitization program, he added.

“According to preliminary calculations, the direct effect of the economy’s digitization by 2025 will make it possible to create added value worth 1.7-2.2 trillion tenges,” he noted.

At the same time, 300,000 new jobs will be created in Kazakhstan due to the digitization in 2022, he said.

“The share of public e-services will account for 80 percent of the total volume of public services in 2022,” he noted. “The share of Internet users among the population in Kazakhstan will be 82 percent in 2022. The level of digital literacy of the population will be 83 percent in 2022. The volume of investments attracted to start-ups in 2022 will amount to 67 billion tenges.”
