Candidate for the post of Iranian President Es'haq Jahangiri called the presidential elections a "political spring" in Iran.

Iran's nuclear agreement has prepared a good ground, and the continuation of its implementation will have a significant impact on the economic and political life of the Iranian people, believes Jahangiri, a representative of the reformers' camp in the upcoming presidential elections.

Jahangiri also added that all ethnic groups in Iran should have the same access to the use of existing resources of the country.

The presidential candidate called the observance of the principle of justice in relations between all peoples and ethnic groups of Iran one of his main tasks, in case of his victory in the elections.

Jahangiri also said that if he wins the upcoming elections, he will provide economic security, in particular, for investors in the private sector.

Earlier, the leader of National Solidarity and Cooperation Mohammad Reza Rahchamani said that the nuclear deal (officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or JCPOA) will go unaffected by Iran’s presidential election as it is an ulra-governmental undertaking backed confirmations from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Parliament, and Supreme National Security Council.

Iran’s election campaign is underway with the six presidential hopefuls vying for the position of the country’s president.

The two main rivals in the race are widely expected to be President Hassan Rouhani, and Ebrahim Raeesi.

Rouhani remains popular for stabilizing the economy and ending sanctions through a nuclear deal with world powers. After lifting the sanctions, Rouhani visited a number of European states and made deals that worth billions of dollars. European companies started looking for investment opportunities in the growing Iranian market.

Raeesi, who is a close ally of the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, would rely on his past record in high government posts and his managerial skills to win votes.

The voting date for the 12th presidential and 5th city and council elections is May 19. 

To win, the candidate must score more than 50 percent of the vote. If none of the applicants succeeds in enlisting the support of such a number of voters, a second round of voting will be held, in which two leaders of the first round will participate.
