Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein discussed promising areas of cooperation at a meeting held May 10 in Tashkent city, Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA) reported.

The Uzbek president noted the importance of development and strengthening of constructive and open dialogue between Uzbekistan and the UN, as well as the institutions of this authoritative universal international organization, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

He stressed that full protection of human rights is a priority of the ongoing deep structural reforms in Uzbekistan.

For his part, Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein reaffirmed OHCHR’s readiness for the development of long-term and systematic bilateral cooperation.
