Iran’s reciprocal measure against the U.S. entry ban for Iranian citizens remains at place, Iranian deputy foreign minister Majid Takht Ravanchi said.

He made the remarks while commenting about the US President Donald Trump’s updated travel ban on predominantly Muslim countries including Iran, ILNA news agency reported on March 7.

There is no need for a new response as Iran’s earlier reciprocal measure against Trump’s previous ban order is still in place, Takht Ravanchi said, adding that permitting the U.S. wrestlers was an exception.

President Trump signed a new decree on March 6 to ban entry for nationals of six Muslim-majority countries, including Iran. Trump’s former ban decree was halted by a federal court in February.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced in January it would ban Americans from entering the country in response to Trump’s order on restricting arrivals from Iran and six other Muslim states.

Tehran only agreed to issue visa for the US wrestling team members to enter Iran for participation in Freestyle World Cup competition.
