The U.S. embassy in Ankara will be closed on December 20 against the background of two armed incidents, including the assassination of the Russian envoy, the US embassy tweeted on December 20.

“The US Embassy in Ankara and Consulates in Istanbul and Adana closed for normal operations today,” said the embassy.

Previously, Russia’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Russian ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov died after receiving fatal wound in an armed assaut in Ankara Dec. 19.

Meanwhile, the US Department of State confirmed the information about the armed attack on the US embassy in Ankara and added that there were no injured people, and the attacker has been detained.
