Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, after visiting Saudi Arabia, arrived in Tehran on Jan.19, to mediate the Tehran-Riyadh relations, IRNA news agency reported. Iran’s relations with Saudi Arabia have severely deteriorated recently after the kingdom’s execution of a prominent Shia cleric, Nimr al-Nimr, on Jan. 2. Sharif, who is the first head of state to visit Iran is post-sanctions era, will meet with President Hassan Rouhani and Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri. Iran announced on Jan.18 that it welcomes any efforts by other nations to play a peacemaker role between Tehran and Riyadh. According to the IRNA report, Sharif will also invite Rouhani to visit Pakistan. /By Trend/
