Turkey will continue to support Georgia on its accession to NATO. Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania said on Friday at a meeting with Turkish Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz.
The Georgian delegation, which is on an official visit to Turkey, includes deputy head of the Joint Staff, Brigadier General Vakhtang Kapanadze and representatives of the Defense Ministry.
The meeting focused on the relations existing between the two countries, and plans for the future.
As Alasania said, the country remains true to its course of Euro-Atlantic security, which is confirmed by Georgian soldiers' participation in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
Georgia's participation in the country's development after the mission was discussed with the Turkish side.
Alasania briefed his Turkish counterpart about the reforms planned in defense sphere in Georgia. Georgian delegation thanked the Turkish side for political support and contribution to the development of the Georgian Armed Forces.
Within the visit Alasania will meet with the head of the General Staff, Army General Necdet Ozel and Defense Committee Chairman Oguz Kagan Koksal.
