In recent days, French police have detained 21 Georgian citizens during an operation in Paris and Lyon. According to the Georgian Consulate in France, they learned about it from the local press, but the official information about the detained people has not been submitted to the Georgian diplomatic mission.

The Consulate stated that although all those detained have Georgian surnames, according to them, many of them are not Georgian actual citizens.

The Consulate intends to obtain official information from the French authorities and take steps to protect the rights of the Georgian citizens.

French police stated there were links of the detained people with the Russian mafia in Europe.
