The operation was launched in Bestler Dereler area of Sirnak in southeastern Turkey with the first lights of Wednesday, where a group of PKK members were detected in the previous night DHA reported. The PKK members were believed to be in a winter deployment engagement in the area.
Cobra helicopters bombarded the area, and Gendarmerie Special Operation Forces were taken to the operation area by Sikorsky helicopters, and via overland.
