Turkish F-16 fighter jets conducted reconnaissance flights along the border of Syria after the Syrian military helicopters shelled Rasulayn region bordering the Turkish province of Sanliurfa, Dogan agency reported.
The flights were conducted to warn Syrian aircrafts not to violate Turkish airspace.
As a result of air attack of Syrian Air Force helicopters on Rasulayn city near the Turkish border, several Turkish citizens were injured.
Earlier it was reported that the Air Force helicopters attacked on Rasulayn, which is under the control of the Free Syrian Army, and a strong explosion took place near the city.
During the air raid residents of the Turkish Ceylanp?nar district of Sanliurfa province, bordering with Syria, were evacuated to other areas.
Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for a year and half.
According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 30,000. Over 230,000 have become refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
