The Armenian sports world was shattered today by the devastating news that the World Curling Federation (WCF) has expelled Armenia for its failure to pay membership fees for a “durable” period of time, the Armenian media reports.

According to Armsport.am, WCF swept out Armenia. Curling is a sport in which players slide “stones” resembling tea kettles across a sheet of ice towards a target area which is segmented into four rings, while teammates sweep the area in front. Curling has been an official winter Olympic sport since 1998. Armenia, which has never fielded a curling team, will now, alas, be struck from the roll call of the remaining 48 curling nations.
