Georgian National Security Council Secretary Giga Bokeria called "Georgia Dream" coalition leader Bidzina Ivanishvili's appeal to President Mikheil Saakashvili to resign as "dangerous games". As Bokeria told "Rustavi-2" TV company, this call looks strange against a background of Saakashvili's statements that he is ready to support the government proposed by Ivanishvili and propose it to the Parliament for approval.
"This was done despite the fact a case of delay in the government forming process exists, but the president has decided to impose no impediment and respect the choice of the people," Bokeria said.
Ivanishvili, who is candidate for Prime Minister from "Georgia Dream", stated on Oct. 2 that after President Saakashvili admitted the defeat of his party in the elections, his next "logical" step would be resignation and scheduling early presidential elections. He said he is open to cooperation, but it will be difficult for Mikheil Saakashvili, since he will have problems because the coalition must control the situation and there may be even a crisis at some level.
Bokeria said if someone wants a crisis, then it will be very dangerous choice.
Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on Oct.1. Around 14 parties and two political blocs attended the elections.
Parliamentary elections were held on a mixed - list, majority system. Around 150 MPs must be elected - 77 on the lists (a passing barrier of five per cent) and 73 - single-seat constituencies.
Parliament will receive more authority in 2013 after amendments to the Constitution take effect resulting in the president's power being reduced.
