Georgian border guards have detained the Russian vessel 'Siberian-2128' for the pollution of the marine waters of Poti.

According to the Georgian Border Police, the ship poured faeces into the sea at berth number 9 in Poti port.

The vessel's captain, Russian citizen Viktor Kiryakov, has been arrested. Administrative proceedings have been initiated against him.

Poti Court has imposed a fine on Kiryakov of 65,000 lari ($ 1 = 1.65 lari) and ordered him to reimburse the direct damage to the nature of 605 lari.

After paying a fine the vessel will be allowed to continue the voyage
