Deputy Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Baqeri has urged Western countries to take practical steps to win the confidence of the Iranian nation as a main factor to achieve progress.

Speaking to reporters upon arrival from an official visit to China and Russia, Baqeri stressed the world’s six major powers’ (P5+1) acknowledgement of Iran's right to use nuclear energy for peaceful objectives in line with the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), IRIB reported.

He said during his talks with senior officials of Russia and China, as two permanent members of the UN Security Council, they discussed “serious and important” topics about negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 as well as bilateral issues.

The SNSC official noted that Iran and the P5+1 group of countries comprising the US, UK, France, China, Russia plus Germany would set the framework for the future talks before their upcoming meeting in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
