Iran and Iraq have underlined the significance of the ‘great potentials’ of bilateral ties, which could be used to boost cooperation and enhance the volume of economic exchanges.
“Economic exchanges [between Iran and Iraq] indicate enhanced relations. The two countries should pay more attention to their great potentials,” said Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Shamseddin Hosseini in a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Rafi Hiyad al-Issawi in Tehran on Thursday.
He expressed hope that the visit by the Iraqi side would lead to the improvement of economic cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad.
Al-Issawi, for his part, said Iraq shoulders a heavy responsibility to expand economic and financial relations with Iran after the withdrawal of US forces from the war-weary country.
