A number of managers have been arrested in Iran's Ardebil province on corruption charges in 5 years, Ardebil prosecutor Fardeen Arjangi said, ISNA reported. "60 people are the managers of various economic spheres, banks and commercial companies, the other three are the majors," Arjangi said.

Prosecutor noted that the investigation is still being continued, and that Iran's interior intelligence services are working on revealing corruption cases as well.

Iran has lately intensified the battle against corruption. In November, at least 22 people uspected of embezzling $2.8 billion of the Iranian Bank Saderat were arrested in the country. The suspects were accused of illegal withdrawal of funds from the Kish branch of the Iran National Bank through a credit line of one of the branches (LC) of Bank Saderat in the province of Khuzestan.

Several people close to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and former head of the presidential administration Rahim Meshai had been arrested on suspicion of corruption in June.
