Ilham Aliyev received yesterday credentials of new ambassador of Romania Daniel
Cristian Ciobanu. President Aliyev made conversation with the ambassador during which the Head of
State noted political and economic relationship between Azerbaijan and Romania was developing
successfully. The Azerbaijani leader said strong legal basis existed to deepen
bilateral relations even more.
President Ilham Aliyev underlined the role of Romania in development of
Azerbaijan-EU and Azerbaijan-NATO relations. The Head of State also stressed
the importance of high-level reciprocal visits in strengthening relations
between the two countries. The Head of State expressed assurance that during
his tenure the Romanian ambassador would contribute to strengthening bilateral
ties. Ambassador Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, in turn, said relations between Azerbaijan and Romania were developing
successfully. The diplomat underscored the importance of the joint Action Plan
signed by Azerbaijani and Romanian presidents to implement strategic
partnership between the two countries. The Romanian ambassador said his country
was interested in development of cooperation with Azerbaijan in economic, in
particular, energy sphere. The diplomat vowed to spare no efforts to contribute
to strengthening bilateral ties between Azerbaijan
and Romania.
