Azerbaijani embassy in Egypt will soon resume its activities fully.

"The situation in Egypt gradually normalizes, and we hope that soon the Azerbaijani Embassy will resume its activities completely," Azerbaijani Ambassador to Egypt Shahin Abdullayev told Trend.

Upon Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's order, immediately after the riots in Egypt, a special flight from Cairo evacuated 103 citizens, including several embassy staff. The same flight delivered the dead body of the embassy official in Egypt Nijat Gojayev. The employee of the Azerbaijani embassy in Egypt was killed in Cairo as a result of mass public disorders in the country.

Later, the embassy sent home 68 more citizens of Azerbaijan.

Currently the Azerbaijani Embassy in Egypt is working in restricted and continues to assist fellow citizens, who are still in Egypt for some reasons.

Large-scale anti-governmental protests were held in Egypt. Thousands of people in different cities across the country went to the streets, demanding President Hosni Mubarak's resignation and the dissolution of parliament. The unrests in the country have killed at least 300 people and have injured over 4,000. A one million march passed at Tahrir Square in Cairo to demand the resignation of President Mubarak. As a result, on Friday, Mubarak announced about his resignation. The leadership passed to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
