15 September 2010 [11:45] - Today.Az
The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet next week in the U.S., the U.S. co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group Robert Bradtke said in an interview with BBC.
"The Co-chairs also will arrive in Washington for consultations. These consultations will be held with the U.S.officials. Then we will leave for New York to meet with the sides," Bradtke said.
According to Bradtke, the co-chairs have "new ideas".
"Last week we familiarized Baku and Yerevan with these ideas. After that, we will once again visit the region in late September or early October," he said.
Bradtke also expressed his expectations regarding specific progress
in the conflict settlement process during the OSCE summit, to be held in
December in Astana.
"I think this summit will be an important event. Armenian and
Azerbaijani presidents together with the leaders of states of Europe and
North America will sit at one table. Undoubtedly, differences in the
positions of the conflict sides will again be in focus. The presidents
will have to inform the world public on plans to develop the process,"
Bradtke said.
"To my mind, certain progress can be achieved here. During the last
visit to the region we informed the sides on the possibility of reaching
agreements in certain spheres. We will discuss these issues again in
New York. We expect from the sides constructive steps to advance the
peace process at this stage," the diplomat said. /Trend/
